April 24 [14:00 EST] — An anti-violence rap single called „Stop The Gunfight,“ which features the voices of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G., entered the „Billboard“ R&B charts this week at number 41.
„Gunfight,“ part of a new album of the same name, was written by Atlanta based rapper Trapp after he lost his younger brother to a gang related shooting. Trapp then worked with Tupac and Biggie before they made it big.
Other rappers on the track include Chocolate Chip, Southside Clik, and Trey.
Trapp said the delayed release was the result of disinterest from record labels who were hoping to put out more than just a single. It took Trapp three years of working up to 70 hours a week to raise the money to complete the album.
He says he’ll donate a portion of the proceeds to a gun buy back program sponsored by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and will continue to do something every year to call attention to gun violence.
