August 5 [16:00 EDT] — The editors of „Vibe“ magazine will commemorate the first anniversary of Tupac Shakur’s death with a hard-cover collection of essay and photo portraits of the late rapper.
The book, from Crown Publishers, features color and black-and-white shots of Shakur, as well as „Vibe“ stories from past issues that chronicle the rapper’s life and untimely death. Among the works included in the edition, simply titled „Tupac Shakur,“ are stories that profile his childhood, an interview conducted while Shakur was in Rikers Island Prison, and his brief time on top of the rap world while on Death Row Records.
The volume also offers a foreword from legendary producer and „Vibe“ publisher Quincy Jones, as well as tributes by Chuck D and directors John Singleton and Ernest Dickerson.
„Tupac Shakur,“ which will carry the suggested retail price of $25.95, should hit book stores by September 13, exactly one year after Tupac died of gunshot wounds in a Las Vegas hospital.
